We are what we remember…we are our memories. Rooted in human psychology, Shahla Karimi jewelry seeks to capture the deep seated longing of human beings to embrace and express their memories.
Each piece of jewelry reveals a story, each collection romanticizes a memory of times past. The work distills beauty from the ordinary, featuring duality and a sense of nostalgia, a modern remembrance that the designer has recalled: words spoken in classic movies, the graphic forms fashioned from the sounds of iconic women; an NYC subway line once traveled toward a bygone place, its mechanical route given organic fluidity. Both forged to wear. Both worn to remember.
All pieces are hand made in New York City with recycled gold and conflict-free stones.
The brand launched in 2014 and has adorned the hands and ears of Lena Dunham, Rebecca Hall, Carrie Underwood, Olivia Palermo, Gigi Hadid and Alexa Chung and has been featured in Elle, W, InStyle, Nylon, The Coveteur, WWD, and NY Magazine.
Shahla has worked in product strategy and merchandising for some of the world’s most esteemed brands and campaigns. She produced multiple apparel collections for Vogue and the CFDA, working with over 50 leading designers including DVF, Marchesa, and Alexander Wang. She also served as Director of Merchandising for President Obama’s re-election campaign.
She is Kentucky bred and Brooklyn based.
